Love Peanut Butter But Not The Calories?

Well I know I do and one of the things that I’ve missed while I’m eating differently is a peanut butter and jam sandwich.  I used to love these when I was a kid and if we had peanut butter in the house (we’d give our Milly a spoonful each night in her dog toy to stop her barking) but I would nab a few spoonfuls when a new jar was opened just to have in a sandwich with some of my favourite raspberry jam.  But now I can’t just dive down a jar of peanut butter for fear of the outrageous calories and fat so I went on the hunt for an alternative.

Ever heard of PB2?  No I hadn’t either but I now I have, I love it.  All the peanut butter with hardly any calories and 85% less fat than regular peanut butter. Ordinary peanut butter has 188 calories for 2 tbsp.  PB2 is just 45 calories for 2 tbsp.  45 calories of thick, gooey peanut goodness.  So what is PB2?

Peanut Butter

PB2 is powdered peanut butter.  The peanuts are slow roasted and pressed to remove the oil so you have all the taste but hardly any of the fat.  Now I know that peanuts are good for your health but as I keep my diet nutritionally balanced I think just having something just for the flavour for a treat without piling on the calories is ok in my book.

PB2 has the same consistency as full fat peanut butter with all of the natural roasted peanut flavour, but with nearly 85% less fat calories. PB2 is made with high quality peanuts that are slow-roasted to our specifications and pressed to remove the oil. All natural with no artificial flavours, sweeteners, or preservatives.

It’s not cheap but for the amount you use it will last you ages.  You mix 12g of the powder with 1 tbsp of water and mix.  Its makes 2 big teaspoons full which is plenty to fill 2 Warburtons Thins.  I love mine toasted and then topped with PB2 and a calorie free (yep) jelly spread from Walden Farms, although it claims to be jam, it’s more like a sweet coloured gelatine so I’m going to play around with some different brands next week and will report back with the ones that are more like jam and not just sweet jelly.

However, for me over the last couple of days with my sweet cravings the PB2 peanut butter and “jelly” thins have filled that void.  If you want to try PB2, then you need to enter my June Giveaway as I’m giving away PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter and PB2 with Premium Chocolate to one lucky reader!
