Well I weighed in today and found that I’ve done it! 3 stone gone since mid February. It’s a massive amount but not a dent in what I need to lose completely but it’s a stepping stone to the bigger amounts which are coming.
I’ve never been as motivated as I am right now. I do a bit of shopping online and where before I’d buy a treat for us of cupcakes or a chocolate gateau, I’m now finding myself looking at frozen fruit, fat free yogurts or things with the green or yellow traffic lights on. I now look at cakes and work their calories out in meals which basically stops me in my tracks. Take for instance, with it being Easter, a hot cross bun. Calories in the majority of them are between 180-300 calories PER hot cross bun without spread. That astounded me. 300 calories for 1 bun? That 300 calories could be my lunch of 2 Jacobs FlatBreads, 1 Emmental Laughing Cow Cheese, 2 slices of ham and 35 sugar free jelly belly beans. That would fill me up more than the hot cross bun any day plus the fact that the hot cross bun is labelled as being high in sugar turns me off straight away. The Warburtons ones are around 180 calories each but even that is still too high for me right now as I know I wouldn’t stop at one, I’d polish off two in one sitting.
I was also kind of dreading Easter because I felt that I had to partake even though I was on a diet but after spending 10 minutes looking through the chocolate eggs I’ve decided I’m not going to bother as if I buy an egg I’ll eat the lot and if I buy a creme egg it will make my blood sugar too high which in turn will result in me having to take more insulin – so the truth is, I really can’t be bothered. Although I might buy a small bar of Green and Blacks or Beech’s to nibble since it’s a better quality of chocolate and the flavour lasts a whole lot longer!
